The Importance of Fine and Visual Motor

This course is designed for educators to understand the importance of fine and visual motor skills in the development of their students. It will cover topics such as the importance of fine and visual motor skills for academic success, the development of fine and visual motor skills, and strategies for incorporating fine and visual motor activities in the classroom. Participants will have the opportunity to practice activities related to fine and visual motor skills, as well as learn about ways to incorporate these activities into their teaching practice. We will explore the connection between fine and visual motor skills and early literacy, math, and writing development. The goal of this course is to provide educators with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of fine and visual motor skills in the development of their students. Course formats: This course is offered in group courses and online format when available. Acceptance information: This course is accepted for professional development training requirements and annual in-service hours/credits in most states. Learning Outcomes: ● Develop an understanding of the importance of fine and visual motor skills. ● Identify the activities and exercises that help develop fine and visual motor skills. ● Analyze the role of sensory in put in the development offline and visual motor skills. ● Demonstrate the ability to implement activities and exercises that help improve fine and visual motor skills. ● Explain the importance offine and visual motor skills in daily tasks. ● Utilize strategies to improve accuracy and precision when performing tasks. ● Demonstrate an understanding of how to modify activities in order to accommodate different levels of ability. ● Develop an understanding of the connection between fine and visual motor skills and academic success. Topics covered: ● Overview of Fine and Visual Motor Skills ● Strategies for Assessing Fine and Visual MotorSkills ● Interventions to Address Fine and Visual Motor Skills ● Integrating Fine and Visual Motor Skills in to the Classroom Setting Assessment methods: Multiple choice quiz and/or written assignments. Instructional methodology: Interactive Instruction, experiential learning, read written material, view videos, and listen to audio segments.
